Does Eharmony even work? I've always considered it as a scam.

I have heard that these e-dating services are used quite effectively for short term hooking up (ahum) with divorcees. But it's hearsay only.

I would believe that Tharg. I just don't see a dating service being able to find your "soulmate"

Congrats on that RR. I just haven't been in the position where marriage within a year is a good idea yet. Or if this relationship continues to head that way, ever.

it does take time....not something to be jumped into on a dare kinda thing....if you really get to know the person, are comfortable with them, good friends etc then it will probably work out (and if your religion of choice doesnt believe in divorce so much the better).
My hubby and I spent 6 years living together before we got married, I have known others who have spent longer before they did as well---there is no reason to jump into anything only to want to jump out twice as fast.
Times now think that marriage is not a LIFE commitment---more of a if I have time thing and when its no longer convenient get out of it--not an attitude I share. I got married for life--that includes the good, the bad, the really ugly and whatever else life wants to toss my way. I cant say there werent times I thought of leaving...and I am sure my spouse has too, but that was NOT the way we were brought up (and no, he is not a religious type). I am in this to the end---I dont give up!

My gf doesn't want to live together until after marriage, which I guess is fine, though I am okay with the idea of living together while engaged. But whatever. Neither of us believe in divorce, which is good lol. But ya, who knows. It will probably be another year or two before we start to seriously talk about that stuff.

good idea to take it slowly (and my spouse and I didnt have much choice...he got kicked out of his dorm and the next year when I was in grad school I stayed with him on weekends....so we lived together out of necessity more than anything else at the time).
You have plenty of time for all of that stuff, enjoy it!

the trick is not to get married too young. I got married when I was almost 34. You see these young kids getting married at 22 - big mistake. At that age you have so much growing up to do, there is a big chance you grow apart in the process. Maybe 34 is a bit late - I think 30 is a great age to get married.

I have friends who are getting married and they just turned 21. Know a few that got married straight out of HS as well. I'm 22 right now, so probably won't be for another 2 years I would guess. So 24-25. 30 still seems late to me considering when my parents and grandparents got married.

Yeah no problems with waiting a bit...I was ....27? seemed like the right time....Have a friend who just got married 2 years ago--age 42! (and then he and his wife started a family, has a cute kid now too)...had other friends who waited until later in life to get married---guy in the military waited until he was in his 40's to get married (he decided it probably wouldnt be nice to any lady if he went off to some war and got his head blown off, though he was in supply! )....lots of good reasons to wait.

So i got to another Acupuncturist (SP?), well, it took him 15 minutes to know what's wrong with me, the docs have taken 1½ year, and came up with loads of crap that wasn't even it, So 1-0 for alternative "healers".
Must say, he's a good acupuncturist though, very clever, and medically trained.
I've been engaged twice, and i'm only 25, both times was pretty serious, but fell apart after, let's say disagreements. but i kinda don't like marriage as a whole, as i'm quite an Agnostic.

see not all alternative medicine people are as bad as the regular doctors! Hope you are on the road to recovery azzer!!
(hubby is an agnostic as well....I'm more towards just plain gnostic with some shinto and Buddhist on the sly)
Marriage is not for everyone...my sister is living with a guy---has been for most of the last decade with no plans to ever get married. c'est la vie.
